St James disc jock succumbs to gunshot wounds

A man described as one of western Jamaica’s top promoter/disc jockey died in the Cornwall Regional Hospital, 4 days after he was shot while at a dance in Anchovy, St. James.

The victim has been identified as 39 year old Lando Brissett, otherwise called DJ Sammy, of Bogue Hill.

Brissett, who also managed a western Jamaica dance group known as Energy Girls, was attending the back a yard party at York Bush in Anchovy on Sunday December 20.

While at the venue, loud explosions which sounded like gunshots were heard.

It was later discovered that Brissett was suffering from gunshot wounds.

The promoter was rushed to the hospital where he was admitted in critical condition.

He succumbed to the gunshot wounds on Thursday, December 24.
